Indiana State Literacy Association 2020 Conference

There is an art to giving feedback to our youngest writers that takes into account the ways emerging writers communicate on paper. With too much emphasis on, say, conventional spelling, the writer can feel whalloped and defeated.  On the flip side, not enough feedback can have the same outcome.  Together we will explore the different phases of writing development, embrace a new definition of writing in the primary grades, and consider innovative feedback moves that empower.
