This session will take us on a journey into culturally responsive pedagogical (CRP) practices and the impact on African American male students. We will investigate the importance of implementing culturally responsive pedagogical practices for African American male students, especially in the elementary school setting. We will identify the CRP practices that have the power to increase student learning outcomes for African American male students. We will look at the highs and lows, ups and downs, and failures and successes. We will develop a clear understanding of CRP and begin to create an action plan to use in the classroom/school setting. It is my firm belief that implementing CRP practices provides educators with an avenue to remedy a social justice issue that has plagued our nation for years. This session will be beneficial for all those invested in closing the achievement gap and increasing student learning outcomes through the use of CRP practices.
