In today's world, students need to learn how to be active readers that critically think about texts. In this presentation, we will present an instructional process for thinking aloud with students in literacy experiences, including gradual release of responsibility and quality components that should be included in teachers' explicit modeling. Walk away with literature lists and activities that can immediately be put into place in your classroom to encourage your students to be more active, critical thinkers.
